Copperweld

Dustin Fox is a Vice President of Engineering for Copperweld, and a global ambassador for the bimetallics industry. He has 30 years of experience in wire, cable, and metals fabrication — 25 years of that is with Copperweld. Currently, Dustin oversees all engineering activities related to bimetals fabrication, which is aimed at in-house operational support, including improvements in processes and equipment to enhance product quality, production efficiency, environmental compliance, and plant safety. His expertise includes, not only extensive knowledge about bimetallic products and the technology, but also every aspect of the equipment used in its production from the initial design and specification stages to installation and full production.

Copperweld is known as the leader in bimetallic wire, and Dustin is known throughout the industry as an expert in bimetallic wires. Customers, suppliers, government agencies, and standards organizations from all over the world have invited him to speak as an expert on the benefits and advantages of bimetallics. Copperweld’s products have been integral in the development of almost every bimetallic wire and cable standard in existence worldwide, and his goal is to assure that those standards remain high.

Dustin has held an officer position in ASTM for the past 20 years, including Chairmen of the Electrical Conductors committee for 6 years. Currently, he is chairman of the the Bimetallic Conductor Subcommittee. He has written and published several ASTM bimetallic standards.

Dustin has published eight technical white papers regarding bimetallic products and technology, and he holds a multinational patent regarding the use of bimetallic wire in electrified railways. He is holding a Purdue-certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma, which supports operational excellence through utilizing experience and skills in Lean Manufacturing practices and principles.

Background

After graduating from Purdue, Dustin Fox worked for a wire and cable company as a Manufacturing Engineer. Less than 5 years later, he joined Copperweld as a Process Engineer. He has significant experience in the design, specification, procurement, and installation of wire and cable equipment, especially as it relates to bimetallic production, both before and after joining Copperweld. During his 25-year tenure at Copperweld, he has held management roles in process and product engineering, quality, maintenance, R&D, environmental compliance, and operational excellence, as well as his current role as VP of Engineering.

Personal

Married and a father of three children, Dustin also has three grandchildren. He appreciates nature and especially enjoys hiking and multi-day backpacking trips. When he's not on the trail, he loves leaning into the curves of the Tennessee backroads on his motorcycle. Born and raised in Indiana, he has strong ties to the Midwest, but has embraced Tennessee as his home for the past 25 years.
